As soon as the fishing season starts, many enthusiasts come to the Modena Apennines, attracted by the opportunity to enjoy their favourite pastime in a pleasant, picturesque setting, surrounded by nature.
It is a sport that must be enjoyed in full respect of all the rules and regulations.
Below is a list of the main places where you can fish, divided by area.
Fanano fishing areas and regulations

Lake Il Lido
Here you can fish for brown trout, rainbow trout and char in the crystal-clear waters of the Ospitale stream which feeds the lake. You don’t have a fishing rod with you? You can hire everything you need here. Do you feel quite good at fishing? If so, you can try your hand at the many summer competitions!
The Lido is just a short walk from the centre of Fanano, and can be easily reached via the public pathway known as the ‘Sentiero dell’Acqua’ (Water Trail), by following the yellow signs.
Here, at the point where the Ospitale and Fellicarolo streams meet, you can relax by the river, which even has a beach, as well as the lake, and bar and restaurant services, all open during the summer.

Lake Le Sorgenti
You can enjoy trout fishing in this beautiful little lake located on the Ospitale mountain stream; it also stands on the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) trail no. 411, known as ‘La Via Romea’, one of Italy’s historic walking routes.
“Le Sorgenti” is located on the main road leading to the hamlet of Ospitale and the Croce Arcana mountain pass, and has a bar and restaurant open all year round.

Fishing areas in the village of Fiumalbo
In the village of Fiumalbo there are two catch-and-release fishing areas and one competitive fishing area.
Daily permits can be purchased at the Tourist Office or at the bar “Il Dolce Ritrovo”.

I Laghi “Il Mulino”
In the Lama Mocogno area, if you want to do sport fishing, you absolutely must go to the “Il Mulino” lakes
Three lakes for trout fishing, one of which is exclusively dedicated to catch and release fishing, open every day of the week except Wednesday; from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.
In the lakes you can fish with any trout fishing technique, from natural bait to any type of artificial bait; it is also possible to carry out catch and release fishing in the trout area or with the spinning technique with specific regulations in the dedicated lake or in the lakes where traditional techniques are practiced.

Lake Oasi Serena
If you want to go fishing in the Pievepelago area, we recommend the “Oasi Serena” Lake.
It is located in Ponte Modino, and you can go trout fishing, and also eat at the restaurant there.
The area is also suitable for picnics and there is also a children’s play area. Fishing equipment is available for hire.

Lake Le Polle
If you are looking for a small oasis of peace where you can fish and relax, Lake Le Polle is the perfect place for you!
The lake is located in the municipality of Riolunato, near the start of the six-seater chairlift that is used during the winter season.
The lake is usually open from May to November, and you can go trout fishing here.
The membership card can be purchased on site, and if you do not have your own equipment, you can hire some here.

Lake delle More
Lake delle More is an amateur sports association located in Serramazzoni at no. 901, Via Lago delle More.
You can go trout fishing in winter and carp fishing in summer.

Lake Ninfa
If you want to fish in one of the most beautiful places in our area of Apennines, you can do so in Sestola, Lake Ninfa, at the foot of Monte Cimone!
You can buy a membership card at one of the refuges overlooking the lake.
