Lake Terzo is a small peat lake situated at the foot of Monte Cimone.
For most of the year it is empty, but the shape of the lake can still be clearly seen, outlined by vegetation.
To reach the lake, you can take the path which starts from Lago della Ninfa (Nymph Lake) and then follow the turning after Fontana Bedini (Bedini Fountain); alternatively, you can set out from Canevare or Cimoncino, taking CAI (Italian Alpine Club) trail no. 439, which then continues to Mount La Piazza, just beyond the lake.
Lake Terzo can also be visited in the winter, as it is located on the snowshoe and ski-touring trail. It is undoubtedly more difficult to spot when covered in snow, but just as enchanting.
