The itinerary proposed here is a simple circular route also suitable for mountain bikes.
It starts from the car park in the centre of Gombola and, crossing the pretty little bridge over the Rossenna river, leads to the Gombola mill, which still works to this day.
The itinerary continues for 1km along the main road; there isn’t much traffic but do watch out for any cars.
Turn left and follow the dirt track which leads through the woods to Gombola Castle. There are many interesting buildings in the surrounding hamlet, such as the oratory housing the remains of Gombola’s very own saint, and the “podesteria”, where the ancient prison cells can still be seen.
To the left of the fountain there is a path which will quickly bring you back to the starting point.
On the trail map issued by Polinago tourist office, this itinerary features as route no. 4.
