The upper part of Sestola Castle houses museums and exhibitions that are well worth a visit!

If you are on holiday in Sestola, allow yourself some time to visit the museums inside the “Rocca” or fortress. It is of great interest from a cultural point of view; the exhibitions are housed within the castle rooms, and you can also visit the castle’s inner courtyards and climb the panoramic tower to admire Sestola from above and enjoy views over the entire surrounding valley.

THE MULTIFACETED MUSEUM

The Fortress Museums host a variety of exhibitions: the Museum of Mountain Civilisation, the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, the Room of Memories dedicated to the Sestola soprano Teresina Reiter née Burchi, the 15th-century cycle of frescoes from the Church of St John the Baptist, the exhibition of the Artists of Frignano, and exhibition rooms in the Tower with explanatory display panels on prehistory, archaeology, and ancient local history.

MANAGEMENT OF THE MUSEUM

The Cultural Association E’ Scamàdul manages the Castle Museums in agreement with Sestola local council, organising a rich, year-round programme of events and activities designed to promulgate the history, culture and traditions which they preserve.
