The lesser-known bridge over the Scoltenna but equally evocative: here is the Ponte della Fola Alto in Fiumalbo!
Also known as the Devil’s Bridge (not to be confused with the stone monolith found between Lama Mocogno, Pavullo and Polinago) this bridge is located between the hamlet of San Michele and Fiumalbo.
It is one of the five bridges that cross the Scoltenna and is the one located highest.
How to get there
It is located along the Camino di San Bartolomeo and in fact you can notice that there is a yellow sign indicating the passage of the path.
You can reach it on foot if you follow this stretch of the path from San Michele to Fiumalbo.
Alternatively you can approach the bridge by car, along the state road that leads from Pievepelago to Fiumalbo.
On the left you will find a stele and a small car park with the indication of the bridge.
From there the downhill path starts which leads to the bridge with a short but steep descent.
The bridge
The bridge has a single arch and is located in a particularly high position with respect to the stream, making the view even more spectacular both from below and from above the bridge.
Scoltenna’s impetuosity is appreciated even more.
